Mirrors

Mirrors turn all objects, furnishings and people around them into protagonists, often becoming protagonists of the spaces and environments in which they are placed. Used in a strategic way, they are placed in all possible environments, confirming their transversal nature in the domestic environment such as bars, restaurants and accommodation facilities. On the other hand, as purely decorative elements, design mirrors are almost jewels with glossy finishes and more or less precious materials. With simple or more complex shapes, designers and manufacturers test themselves at using classic mirrored glass or glass with colour variations. All this to characterize as much as possible an object born with a simple function but which, nowadays, is used for the most diverse needs.

The mirror as a window on the world

As with a view in the heart of a city, they manage to enclose multiple scenes giving light and, at the same time, a sense of depth and largeness to the environments in which they are placed. Mirrors may look like objects with a complementary function, not a protagonist. However, they can contribute to the characterization of all spaces. In particular, wall-mounted mirrors are strategic in the furniture: from the most classic environments such as the bathroom, to narrower spaces such as corridors and connecting areas.

Mirrors, not only decoration

In addition to being a simple piece of furniture, whether it's for make-up or dressing, mirrors always offer a valid and essential help. Bathroom mirrors are an essential element in these daily operations. With small spaces it is possible to insert long mirrors integrated in doors or cupboard doors, to obtain large reflecting surfaces with practicality. In large rooms, however, freestanding mirrors are an excellent crossroads between style and practicality.

A mirror for every need

The possibilities of customization of this type of furniture is infinite. In particular, framed mirrors can have countless different styles, through the use of increasingly different materials, such as wood, metal and stone of all kinds. Technological and modern elements can be inserted to integrate mirrors and mirrors in increasingly young and dynamic homes: from mirrors with integrated lighting, which characterize the environment even more through indirect lighting, to mirrors with containers, very useful to obtain hidden spaces and make everything within reach.

How mirrors are made

Born as simple metal sheets, polished and made reflective, the production of mirrors has evolved both in terms of materials and techniques. To date, there are two main materials that make up these furnishings: glass and thin layers of silver or aluminum fixed with an electrolytic process. Previously, the use of crystal and other types of metals, required special production processes, born in Venice in the fifteenth century, which made the ancient mirrors objects considerably expensive. Today, technology allows the personalization of reflective surfaces through engravings, silkscreens and inserts through the use of countless materials.
