Emu stands for ElettroMeccanica Umbra. The Biscarini family founded the company in 1951 to manufacture metal structures and wire mesh. Over time, Emu perfected the wire mesh technology and began producing outdoor furniture using the material. The company soon became a leader in working metals for outdoor furniture. The quality of the materials and superior workmanship gives EMU products extraordinary strength and durability, combined with careful design and attention to comfort, contributing to Emu's success throughout the world. Thanks to the new Design&Simulation Centre designed by architect Andrea Pascucci, and collaboration with internationally renowned and emerging designers, the company has renewed its development strategy. A wide variety of styles and finishes make Emu's products suitable for any residential or contract context. Emu develops and manufactures its products in Marsciano, where it was founded 69 years ago, controlling every phase of production from the selection of the raw materials to the conformity testing required by the most important international certification authorities.

Emu solutions for outdoor contract furniture

Emu's outdoor furniture graces a wide variety of prestigious locations from the Louvre Abu Dhabi to Heathrow Airport to the most renowned hotels, resorts and cruise ships. The brand's vast catalogue includes tables, chairs, armchairs, sofas, parasols and accessories for total furnishing of any space. The Holly collection includes a sunbed and small table that grace the decks of the Costa Smeralda, the Costa Cruise new flagship vessel. The essential design of the Holly lounge structure in painted aluminium is characterised by a wave-shaped element that joins the two legs on each side. Lightweight and stackable, it is perfect for furnishing beaches, pools and cruise ships. Patricia Urquiola's Re-Trouvé collection consists of a garden armchair, garden chair, low stool, garden tables and vases. With its airy diamond-patterned wire mesh forms, Re- Trouvé furnishes the Novotel London Heathrow Airport T1 T2 and T3 Hotel cafeteria.
The Mia collection of chairs and stools by Jean Nouvel was chosen to furnish the café at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, designed by Nouvel himself. The strong aesthetics of the minimalist and rigorous design adds an iconic mood to the collection. The Ivy collection has all the credentials to become an outdoor furniture classic. Designed by Paola Navone, it evokes the company's origins with its use of steel mesh. Ivy is an opulent outdoor living room with voluminous and sculptural forms whose mesh filters light to create an ethereal effect. The series includes a sofa, armchair, low table and ottoman.

Emu outdoor furniture and accessories for residential use

Despite its strong calling for the contract sector, the vast Emu catalogue also includes furniture and accessories for residential use. The Caprera and Pigalle collections are perfect for rustic contexts; they reinterpret traditional wrought iron chairs and tables in tubular steel. The Arc en Ciel collection includes folding tables and chairs in painted steel, available in several bright colours, evoking French atmospheres with its retro design and slatted backrests and seats. Rio R50, designed by Emanuel Gargano and Anton Cristell, is a more contemporary version of the historic 1970s Rio model with a tubular steel frame welded to a tubular steel base. The complete seating collection includes a garden chair, armchair, stool, table and lounge chair - also available as a rocker.
The Terramare series, by Studio Chiaramonte-Marin, can furnish any exterior space. Made of tubular aluminium, it is distinguished by a die-cast joint that connects the legs and the horizontal structure, evoking a traditional reed joint system. The series includes a stackable lounger, an upholstered three-seater sofa, a two-seater sofa and an armchair for a living-lounge area. The catalogue consists of an extendable table and a garden table for the dining area. Ideal for a relaxation corner, the light and practical folding chairs in the Snooze collection by Studio Chiaramonte-Marin have a cheerful and colourful design. The painted tubular steel frame supports seats in EMU-Tex, a technical fabric for outdoor use resistant to UV rays, atmospheric agents and humidity. The collection includes a deckchair, a small armchair, a sun lounger and a practical footrest.
