Cassina was founded in 1927 by brothers Cesare and Umberto Cassina. In 1950s Italy, the company inaugurated industrial design. Thanks to the collaboration with Gio Ponti, one of the most important and renowned Italian designers and architects, Cassina contributes to the rebirth of post-war design. The Company immediately assumes an attitude to research and innovation, thanks to the involvement of important architects and designers, who contribute to create new forms, a characteristic that still distinguishes the brand today. The Sixties are marked by the success of the Brand and there are many names of internationally renowned designers, architects and artists who collaborate with Cassina. Collection I Maestri di Cassina: design becomes art
Cassina creates the style models designed by 20th century architects in a continuous dialogue between past, present and future, to offer furnishing elements that are both functional and original. With the I Maestri collection, it perfectly respects original designs and functional concepts, updated according to technological evolutions. In fact, Cassina has produced the reference works of contemporary design from the 1950s to the present day, signed by some of the most important international designers. The Brand continues to look to the future with audacity, passion, curiosity and an open approach, in which products with the most innovative soul and modern icons create together authentic, welcoming, personal atmospheres, dialoguing according to a code of design excellence, formal sensitivity, solidity and cultural authority.
It is part of the I Maestri LC3 Fauteuil Grand Confort Durable collection, the ecological version of the evergreen icon that has contributed to the history of design; LC3 is in fact a timeless object that does not follow fashions, to be handed down from generation to generation in the name of responsible consumption and respect for the environment. Eco Compatible polyols, derived from bio-renewable sources, have been integrated into the foamed elements and a 100% recycled blown fiber. This research is part of a more in-depth process that expresses the Company's desire to select new materials to be adopted in the development of its products. The 875 armchair was designed in 1960 for Cassina by Ico Parisi, whose experimentation led to a seat that was both classic and modern at the same time. Cosy, rigorous, elegant, it has a solemn appearance dampened by the contrast of the materials used. This clever mix makes it comfortable and functional, suitable for any environment, and at the same time eclectic and innovative. Within the proposal of the I Maestri collection, we also find the Cassina design tables, designed to adapt to the dimensions of everyday life, through every room in the home and office, modulating fine surfaces and handcrafted workmanship. The range elevates exclusive materials such as solid wood and pure crystal, molded to simplified shapes, sculptural volumes and geometric and essential lines. Cassina tables highlight the skillful combination of design and architecture, stylistic research and design, and are a clear example of the union between functionality and timeless beauty in objects that become art.
The Solid Wood Console 816 PA' 1947 was designed by Parisi in the late 1940s and used in numerous projects. This is a re-edition, whose name is a tribute to the creator, nicknamed Pa', a perfect combination of the beginning of his surname and the recognition of his being a father of modern Como.
The idea of the project for the realization of this console was born from essential lines, cast on the sheet, to outline a harmonious structure, perfect proportions and organic appearance. The shape of the Cassina design object recalls that of a foal ready to shoot, an expression of strength and tension of tapered legs. The company has been able to respect and make the most of the essence of this project, combining technology and craftsmanship, characteristics of Cassina carpentry. The result is a refined console in solid wood embellished with metallic details, able to adapt to any domestic environment.
I Contemporanei Cassina: sofas, beds, complements
The I Contemporanei collection presents designer beds, a symbol of the fluidity between relaxation, elegance and comfort. The simple and harmonious volumes amplify the feeling of lightness. L42 Acute is characterized by the combination of different materials, used wisely; the headboard is in ash wood and has leather or fabric cushions adjustable in height. Acute offers multiple customization options, including storage compartments, shelves, lighting and electrical outlets. Bio-mbo is instead a relaxation solution conceived as an independent space, a bed as a real protagonist of the sleeping area and that reinvents the concept of privacy. The structure is characterized by the padded headboard and the two mobile side wings, which create a reserved place to take refuge. Cassina beds are designed with a systemic projection to coordinate with the sofas and the wide variety of bedside tables and support elements in the collection, such as L60 Bio-mbo, a bedside table to complete the bed of the same name and with a curved sheet metal side structure and a single supporting leg. Also part of the collection is 375 Stay Vanity, a wooden toilet cabinet born from the collaboration with the Shanghai studio founded by Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu, which led to the creation of the first collection of accessories to complete the sleeping area.
