06/03/2025 - Actiu has partnered with brand storytelling firm Wanna at the Madrid Design Festival to illustrate Actiu’s strategy of creating “Life Friendly Spaces". For Actiu, design is a tool to improve the quality of life so, together with Wanna, they developed an exhibition concept to underscore the importance of workplace well-being.
'Welcome Indoor Creatures’ is a nature-inspired installation of a Qyos acoustic booth covered in dense, vibrant greenery, including moss, ferns, and cascading plants, giving it an organic, jungle-like appearance. The concept extends to the pod interior with acoustic comfort, nature sounds and aromas of the vegetation. In addition, the use of the WOOP carpet in woven green wool is part of the MDF initiative to “revalue wool as a historical, cultural and economic heritage.” Within the space are pieces from Actiu's Globb and Bend soft seating collections as well as plant-based solutions and acoustic felts by the Greenarea brand, specializing in “helping to connect nature, people and spaces through innovative plant creativity thanks to the versatility offered by preserved plants”.
Wanna reflects upon the genesis of the idea, “... what attracted us to the concept was, above all, its universality (something key considering that this installation is intended to travel to different international fairs) and the possibilities it offered us to generate a playful, interactive and memorable brand experience in the space.”
The installation underscores the importance of indoor environmental quality and sustainability, in light of WHO statistics indicating that people spend 90% of their time indoors as “indoor creatures”; the growing field of biophilic design; and the necessity for workplace solutions that can change, evolve and grow with emerging needs.
“Recognising our condition as ‘indoor creatures’…is the first step to put micro-architectures at the service of people to provide them with privacy, calm, and physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. We feel that, as an industry, we have an obligation to turn these unused spaces - these ‘non-places’ - into areas that are worth moving into and having a regenerative experience, because you can leave better than you enter", comments Actiu's Brand Reputation Manager, Soledat Berbegal.
